E. Michael Burrows ( 1950- )

E. Michael Burrows was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. He received his B.A. degree in Fine Arts in 1974 from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He then studied at the San Francisco Art Institute and returned to Boulder to finish his Masters degree in Fine Arts. He stayed on to teach painting at the University of Colorado at Boulder before joining the Kent Denver School staff from 1981 to 1996. In 1997 he moved to Cordova New Mexico to assume the position of Adjunct Professor at Northern New Mexico Community College. In 2003 he moved back to Denver assuming the position of Assistant Professor at the Community College of Denver teaching Drawing, Painting, Photography, Art Apperception and Art History.
Burrows launched his professional exhibition career in 1975 with a showing of his oil paintings at Suzanne Saxe Gallery Invitational followed by his first solo exhibition at the Walker Street Gallery in New York City and his second solo exhibition at the Henderson Museum in Boulder Colorado. He has had numerous solo exhibitions at Spark Gallery in Denver, the Touching Stone Gallery in Santa Fe New Mexico, The Studio Gallery in Chicago Illinois and The William Havu Gallery in Denver Colorado.
“I use landscape as my paradigm for the expression of my memories of moments of perfection, and the spiritual meanings that I find in those memories. This is not landscape as it is, but as I would like to remember it.”
